Choosing a new school is a big decision. There are great schools in our district and we understand that you are looking for the best growing opportunity for your child.

As a school community, we believe that all students can learn. We know that each learner comes to us with different strengths and areas of growth. It is through mindful practices that we support all STEAM-learners in continuing to grow.

Independent Study Option (from

Per state law, districts are required to resume in-person instruction and are no longer permitted to continue distance learning. For students who are not yet ready to return to full in-person instruction, Sacramento City Unified will offer a long-term independent study program, consistent with the recently enacted state law,  AB 130.

As part of the independent study program students will receive access to standards-aligned content and courses required for graduation. This may include independent assignments, reading, computer-based activities, and interactions with their teacher.

While most work will be completed independently, live support consistent with  AB 130 will be available for students. Live instruction, also called synchronous instruction, will vary by student segment consistent with  AB 130:

For TK – Grade 3

: Students will receive an opportunity for daily synchronous instruction.

For Grades 4-8:

Students will interact with teachers each school day, and will receive synchronous instruction once per week.

If you are interested in signing your student up for independent study, please complete the following form at
